Spectacular waterfalls, scenic surroundings and a pleasant, bracing climate have all made Kuttalam
very popular with those on holiday. Kuttalam also has a number of temples and two hydro-electric projects.
Courtallam, the 'Spa of the South' is situated in Tamil Nadu
State at an elevation of about 16.7 m on the Western Ghats. Some of the most
important falls in Courtallam are Peraruvi (Main Falls), Chitraruvi, (Small
Falls), Shenbaga Devi Falls, Thenaruvi (Honey Falls) Aintharuvi (Five Falls),
Puli Aruvi (Tiger Falls), Pazhaya Courtallam (Old Falls), Puthu Aruvi (New
Falls) and the Pazhathotta Aruvi (Fruit Garden Falls).
These waterfalls are said to have medicinal properties and a bath in them has a
soothing and tonic effect on the entire physical system. The atmosphere is pure
and bracing. The main falls is formed by a sharp three-stage drop of about 91
metres high and is flood-lit for bathing at night. Its bracing climates extend
particularly from June to September.

the Main water Falls and it is dedicated to Lord Siva.
