How to get there by Road 

Road: There is very good bus service from and to Madurai connecting most of the major cities in the state. Madurai has two national highways - NH 7 and NH 45 - running through it. It has bus services, both government-run and private, to all the towns in the regions near by, and to all towns and cities in TamilNadu.

Bustands : There are five bus stands in Madurai: Periyar Bustand - this is situated in the center of the city. There are connecting buses from periyar to all other bustands for servicing routes in all four directions. 

Anna bustand (mostly city buses), Mattuthavani (north & east bound), Palanganatham (mostly south bound), Arapalayam (mostly west bound),  There are also bus services to the following town / cities given below:

Local Transport: Town buses, suburban buses, taxis, auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws are available. There are no fare-meters normally in auto rickshaws and taxis, so negotiate the fare beforehand. They accept only cash.
